Dry SBS modifiers
Product Introduction
Dry SBS modifiers are a new type of polymer product with special additives and compositions. It can be directly added to the mixer of the asphalt mixing plant together with aggregate and foundation asphalt (Pen 60-70) to produce high-quality asphalt mixture. Depending on the amount in the asphalt mixture (2~5% or higher), the performance and mechanical properties ofthe asphalt mixture using dry SBS modifier, such as dynamic modulus, rutting resistance, crack resistance and moisture sensitivity, will be closer, equal to or better than the asphalt mixture using ordinary polymer modified asphalt (PMB) (PG 76-16). Direct factory SBS modifier is a solid powder that melts quickly and disperses in asphalt. It will provide asphalt mix producers and project owners with unique advantages such as flexible production, improved safety and environmental benefits. In addition, SBS, which is modified due to direct to the factory, can be used without a conventional PMB production unit (i.e. a high shear mill).

Instructions and procedures for use
1. Compatibility between dry SBS modifier and customer base asphalt,Heat the base asphalt (about 500 grams) at 180 ° C for 30 minutes.SBS modifier of 5.5% (w/w) bitumen is added to the base bitumen and then manually mixed with the modifier for a few minutes using a glass rod to ensure that the modifier is dispersed in the bitumen. The asphalt mixture was placed under a high shear mixer at 5000RPM, 180~ 20 min, 190℃. The modified asphalt was analyzed quickly by taking samples.
2. Test the performance of asphalt mixture with dry SBS modifier in laboratory Instructions and procedures for preparing asphalt mixture samples using dry SBS modifiers are as follows:The base bitumen was heated at 150-160 ℃ and gathered in the oven at 185℃~195℃.The quality of asphalt and aggregate is calculated according to the optimum binder content and gradation.Set he mixer temperature to 175~185℃,Add aggregate to the mixing chamber.Add dry SBS modifier (2-5% by weight of asphalt in asphalt mixture) to blender The amount of SBS modifier can be selected according to the expected anti-rust performance of the asphalt mixture and the performance of the base asphalt. Compared with the asphalt mixture using pen 60-70, it has better performance (rutting ability >2000 times /mm) o@3 ~4%. Asphalt mixture performance similar or equivalent to PG 76-22 can be achieved (rut performance: 3000 ~ 4500 times /mm) o When 4~5%, it is better than PG76-22 asphalt mixture performance (rust performance >5000 times /mm) *60-70pen asphalt mixture, rut performance specifications greater than 1000 times /mm, The specification of PG76-22 asphalt mixture is greater than 3000 times /mm.Add base asphalt and then mix for 90s;Add aggregate dust (less than 0.075mm) and stir for another 90 seconds; The mixture is placed in a tray and heated in the oven for 2 hours (170~180°C) to simulate short-term aging in engineering practice (from HMA plant to paving site);Asphalt mixture samples are prepared according to relevant regulations and specifications, such as Marshall compaction or super-paved rotary compaction at 165~175 °C
3. Use of dry SBS modifiers in HMA plants. Dry SBS improvers can be placed directly into the mixer (mixing chamber) by hand or mechanically.Asphalt mixture samples are prepared according to relevant regulations and specifications, such as Marshall compaction or super-paved rotary compaction at 165~175 °C.After adding SBS modifier, dry mixing for 5~10 seconds (without adding asphalt), and then add asphalt and mineral powder/dust, and the mixing time should not be shorter than the relevant requirements of the specification (usually 35~45s).
