What causes diesel to lose fluidity at low temperatures
Diesel fuel is composed of paraffin hydrocarbons, with the change of low flow temperature, paraffin precipitates, paraffin crystals grow rapidly to 200m, forming layered diamond. The diamond-shaped sheet wax crystals encapsulate diesel constituents such as naphthenes and olefins, and their flow patterns do not change with the decrease in temperature and lose their fluidity.
Mechanism of action of diesel freezing point inhibitors
After adding diesel inhibitor, it can be eutectic adsorption with diesel precipitation at low temperature. When the temperature drops, the wax dissolved in the oil crystallizes, causing the oil to lose its fluidity. With the decrease of oil temperature, the solubility of wax gradually decreases, and the wax crystals overlap and connect with each other to form a three-dimensional spatial network structure, and the oil loses its fluidity. Instead of a chemical reaction with the oil, the size and shape of the wax crystals are changed to prevent the wax crystals from forming a three-dimensional spatial network structure. However, it cannot inhibit the precipitation of wax crystals, but only changes the shape of wax crystals, weakens the ability of wax crystals to form a three-dimensional spatial network structure, thereby improving the fluidity of oil.
How to use
Before using diesel fuel inhibitors, they should be tested in a laboratory and added in a certain percentage depending on the test results. Usually an increase of 0.31%. Mixers, static mixers and other mixing devices can be used to mix uniformly according to the harmonic ratio, and the tank can be mixed by pump circulation, or it can be mixed in the tank by natural oscillation for a long distance.
When the ambient temperature is too low and the product is too thick, it can be heated indirectly with heat transfer oil, steam, hot water and other media (direct heating without open flame), and then dilute the product with kerosene, and the diesel temperature should be about 40 °C, so that the product and diesel fuel can be fully and evenly mixed to achieve the effect.
